Why KScope? Joel Kallman responds...

That is the question. After all we do have other outstanding options out there. But we do keep coming back to KScope and in greater and greater numbers. Today I talk with Joel Kallman, Director of Software Development for Oracle America. He took time out of his busy day to answer a few questions of mine. Thank you, Joel.

Joel KallmanML: Hello again! It seems like only yesterday we were visiting in D.C. Believe it or not we're on the doorstep of KScope11. In your opinion, what’s the best thing about KScope conferences?

JK: I believe they are the best available technical conferences for serious Oracle developers.  There is very little "fluff".  It is a collection of technical presentations from a group of world-class experts.  And the vast majority of the presentations are practical demonstrations from developers experienced with Oracle products, solving real-world problems.

ML: Who do you most look forward to seeing a presentation from at Kscope and why?
JK: That's a tough one, because I can think of at least 10 different people that are on my "not miss" list.  But if I had to choose just one person, I would say I look forward to Anton Nielsen's presentations the most.  I learn something new every time, and Anton is a very entertaining and engaging presenter who makes a rather dry topic (Web security) very interesting, approachable and understandable.

ML: Why Kscope and not somewhere else?

JK: Well, I believe I already addressed this - this is a purely technical conference that assembles the best and brightest from around the world, who are expert developers and presenters on development with Oracle products.

ML: Have you ever been to Long Beach or visited the Queen Mary?
JK: No, neither.  But I love visiting California, especially in the Summer.

Thanks again, Joel! I'd encourage you to visit his blog at http://joelkallman.blogspot.com/
